Welcome to the
I am so glad you are here!
I believe that when we come as we are, God loves us too much to leave us there. So we will be honest here, but we will also speak the truth found only in God’s word, because change begins in that place where honesty meets the truth. My hope for this blog is that this will be a place where you will find freedom to embrace the person God made you to be and encouraged to earnestly pursue Christ with all of who you are.
My name is Kim and I live in Northern Virginia with my family. I married my high school sweetheart and have two small children. My husband, Allan, is a pastor at Grace Hill Church and I'm a stay at home momma and foster mom. I'm passionate about discipleship, specifically in helping women realize their freedom and hope in Christ. I'm also passionate about social justice and love to raise awareness and support organizations involved in freeing, rehabilitating, equipping, and empowering endangered and at-risk women and children.
So, why did I decide to start writing?
I love real talk. I love sharing what God has done in my life, about struggles, sin, and what's going on behind the Facebook. Yet I’ve found that if I’m not intentional, these conversations can become pity parties, where complaints are exchanged and little to no encouragement or truth is spoken. It’s hard to remember in the midst of struggle that peace doesn't come from venting. Yes, honesty and crying out to God are needed, but they are only one step. Peace comes from God when our honesty meets His truth.
But sometimes we can get stuck on that first step. We need to sort through the crazy thoughts and rollercoaster emotions so that we can identify the lies and speak life into our hearts once again. And while I love speaking truth to others, it is sometimes hard to see it clearly in my own life. My thoughts, fears, and shame often speak louder. I am prone to wander, so I write the things I need to remember. My prayer for this blog is that this will be a place to hold myself and my readers accountable to not let bitterness develop where truth needs to be spoken; to remind us that Christ is the only lasting source of rest, peace, joy, and freedom.
It is only by His grace. Thank you for reading along!
